Taco has been adopted! 07-20-2020

Male German Shepherd Dog /Labrador Retriever mix about 10+ years old.

If you've been searching for a vintage GSD/Lab mix who only gets more valuable with age, meet Taco. He's not a senior, he's experienced. He's a classic Porsche. He's a fine wine. He's blue cheese. This handsome boy was born on October 20, 2009. Taco was adopted from us as a 10-week-old puppy. Well, 9 years later, he came back to us and is looking for someone who will love him forever. (We always take our dogs back- if it's 9 weeks later or 9 years after adoption.)

Here’s the Cliff’s Notes: he hated everyone when he was returned. He didn’t understand why such an awesome dog like himself would be given up and he held a grudge. He tolerated us so that he could go on walks. He gave us stink eye and still didn’t understand how he lost his home. Fast forward to now and he is a playful, bouncy, happy, smiley, toy loving active senior who loves walks almost as much as he loves cuddling. He’s got a few besties that he smothers in kisses and rolls over for belly rubs with, and he’s friends with everyone else. He takes treats from strangers, passes other dogs with no issues, and can be caught making out with some. He wasn’t socialized with dogs prior to his return, but he spent a little off-leash time with a male Husky and had no problems.

Taco can’t wait to find his special someone. Someone who has a low traffic household in which you can both enjoy your retirement years. Someone who is happy taking a long stroll rather than running for miles and miles. Someone who would enjoy tossing him balls or throwing him frisbees (he can catch them mid-air, as he's a frisbee champion). Someone who is looking for a best friend. He might do better as an only dog, but he can be around most dogs with no issues. He knows basic commands, is a good listener, is good in the house, easy on a leash, and just asks for a soft bed by your feet and 18 balls, preferably with squeakers inside. He's a leaner, a kisser, and will give you his 100%. ❤️ (You can see his puppy pictures in his bio.)

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
