Hippie has been adopted! 07-26-2015

Female German Shepherd Dog /Basenji mix about 4-6 months old. Gets along with other dogs. Not for homes with kids. Not cat friendly.

With her pointy ears and face, Hippie resembles and acts more like a fox terrier or a Basenji more than a German Shepherd and will be a medium/large size dog. Hippie is playful, very very smart, loves other dogs, and learns new things very quickly. She is crate trained and we would encourage whoever adopts her to continue with her crate training. She can easily jump out of a 4 foot high pen and she should not be left alone in a backyard by herself for long periods of time. She will become bored and may get into trouble.
Hippie is a little shy and would need an adopter who could spend time with her helping her get used to the family and her new environment. It will take some effort but once Hippie settles in she will be a loving companion. We recommend that she go to a home with no young children (she will run away from them) and no cats.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
