Millie has been adopted! 12-26-2015

Female German Shepherd Dog about 1-2 years old. Good with kids. OK with cats. Gets along with other dogs.

We rescued Millie as a tiny puppy with very messed up hind legs and no tail (we think she was born that way). One leg needed to be amputated and, after she was old enough, she had hip surgery on the other back leg.

We have a wheelchair for Millie that is being rehabbed but it looks like it fits her and only needs a few modifications. Millie has always had trouble using her "good" back leg and we think that a wheelchair will help her strengthen it. 3 legged dogs are pretty common, believe it or not. Millie can get around, can potty normally (she is housebroken and bomb proof inside), but she just won't use that back leg the way most dogs do.

This gorgeous 2 year old girl loves people, dogs, CATS and her wheelchair, once rehabbed, will come with her. Our goal is that weekly physical therapy (which she is receiving) will eventually eliminate any need for a wheelchair. Millie is a great dog and, once she gets that wheelchair thing figured out, should be stronger than ever.

We know there's a special home out there for her- could it be with you?

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
