Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Glitter has been adopted! 02-01-2014

Female German Shepherd Dog about 10-12 months old. Good with kids. OK with cats. Gets along with other dogs.

Glitter was discovered at a high kill shelter, hairless, scared and cold. We were able to rescue her and get her straight to our veterinarians, who confirmed that she has demodex mange (non contagious) and she is being treated with Cephalaxin, flagyl and ivermectrin. We are also giving her fish oil caps and coconut oil.

Glitter was dumped NOT found as a stray. Her so called family allowed her to get to such a condition that there was no way anyone was going to want her. But Coastal LOVES dogs with skin issues - we have such a great support team through our vets and foster network that we can turn these dogs around very quickly.

Not even a year old, she is an exuberant young lady who loves to play & cuddle with the best of them. She is very friendly with dogs, a little afraid of men but we are working on that. She is a typical puppy in that she will actively look for trouble and now she's our "Halloween" dog complete with a Mohawk.

Glitter will do best in a home with another active happy dog - she is mouthy due to her age, will likely need to be crated when unsupervised although she does quite well outside with her best buddy, Rocco while their foster family is at work.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
