Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Remembering Graciela
Rest in Peace

Female about old.

Graciela was rescued just in the nick of time. She had been found as a stray in a very rural area of San Bernardino and no owner came looking for her. After 5 days at the shelter, her time was up. Her days were numbered. We simply could not let her die in a cold room at a county shelter. Knowing that we have many seniors needing homes and knowing that it takes a long time to find caring adopters willing to take in the seniors....we posted on Graciela on our front page hoping to find an adopter who could adopt straight from the shelter. We didn't find an adopter, but we found the next best thing! We found a generous sponsor who wanted to donate for Graciela's rescue and boarding fees until a foster or adoptive home can be found!

We got to make the exciting phone call to the shelter to let them know that Graciela would be saved! Since arriving at the rescue, we have been lucky to get to know Graciela. She is eloquent and refined...a very regal lady! She gets along with all and doesn't mind sharing her space with a roommate (Greta..also a senior gal).

Graciela is easy going and asks for very little. She would be a very easy gal to add to your family! She is bright and smart--a quick study with an endearing cock of the head to let you know she is listening.

Update from "Ella's" foster family 6/24/11:
Graciella's name has been shortened to Ella which she readily responds to! Ella is dead on housebroken, she has no interest in taking off even when a gate could be left open - you merely call her name and she wheels around to see what you want. She ADORES her foster dad and greets him affectionately when he comes home from work. Ella loves beauty treatments - she adores brushing and if you stop, she puts a paw up to encourage you to "keep it coming". She lives in a 2 story house w/the bedrooms upstairs - she prefers to sleep on her dog bed downstairs and delights in meeting her family every morning. She rarely barks but she does occasionally carry on a conversation (like many shepherds do). This is an amazing girl. She LOVES LOVES her evening walks and if you are looking for a steady eddy gal to keep you company, look no furher than Ella.

Earned her "Angel wings" 7/26/12

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
