Remembering Billie
Rest in Peace
Billie was the 15 year old relinquished at Baldwin Park for being too old. The poor thing was crying her heart out in the shelter. I was able to convince my husband to foster her. She came to me skin & bones. She did well for a few days. Enjoyed her walks with my dogs. Finally I was able to hear her cute bark even. Unfortunately the last 2 days before I put her to sleep she couldn't keep any food in. Her abdomen was huge(full of fluids). That is when I made the decision to put our little angel to sleep. It was very tough for us. In the few days with us she was able to tame my 14 year old Whiskey (who can be a real grouch!). She was too sweet! I was so happy when she started going up the stairs to sleep with us in the bedroom! In a way I was glad she was relinquished because obviously she wasn't well taken care of. She had half eaten ears . She looked like she had puppies in her life. Her favorite spot was to sleep in her bed in the kitchen. We miss her so much! I just did not want her to be forgotten this is why I wanted her in the tribute. She passed away peacefully in my arms. She was so attached to me that there was no way I would leave her. We were honored to have had her in our lives. R.I.P Billie , we love you. Earned her "Angel wings" 12/10/10
It took her 3 days to wag her tail at me. After that she started having a runny nose & cough . Took her to the vet who upon physical exam realized that other then pneumonia, she had a big mass in her abdomen, Confirmed by ultrasound & was partially compressing her intestines. My job for a few days was to give her antibiotics & then feed her. I hand fed the little princess multiple small meals throughout the day. With trial & error I discovered that she loved raw veggies more then raw meat!
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
