Margie has been adopted! 12-24-2012
Are you looking for a dog that can start a conversation with strangers anywhere you go? Look no further than Ms Margi - she's large & in charge (or thinks she is). Margiis likely a cross between a shepherd and basset and she has the personality of a shepherd - she's a big dog hidden in a shorter dog's body. Margi has learned a lot of positive social skills in her foster home. She came in like a bull in a china shop but learned pretty quickly from her canine (& human) roomies that she needed to take it down a notch. She's learned how to play without creating tension in the alpha girls in her pack and now plays with abandon with Lollipop (another little big girl) and a 120 lb shepherd male. They play "soccer" with a big ball in the backyard and while they haven't set up an actual "field", they are a lot of fun to watch. Margi should fit well into most family situations. She will definitely need a firm hand because she will do whatever she can to get her way but she isn't aggressive, just persistent. She's a ton of fun and will be a great addition to nearly any family.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
