Reba has been adopted! 02-04-2013
Reba was rescued on her very last day from the county shelter. She had come in as a stray with no identification and was not adopted by the public, so rescue was her only option. While at the shelter they noticed that Reba walked with a loose gait and decided to have some xrays done. We brought Reba in with crossed paws, hoping that her loose gait and imperfect xrays would be easily corrected! Well, Reba does have shallow hip sockets BUT she is in no pain or discomfort. We have had Reba thoroughly evaluated by a very highly regarded orthopedic surgeon and German Shepherd specialty doctor. Her prognosis is excellent and she has NO limitations to what she can do right now. While she may need hip surgery down the road, we have been counseled to place her in a very active home so that the soft tissue & muscle around her hip joints are fully developed. We are looking for a family who wants a jogging partner, a dog to take swimming and on hikes, exercise is crucial for Ms. Reba! She runs with her legs going in all directions but keeps up with the fastest of her foster brothers. Any family that wants to adopt her will be able to have full access to her xrays and to a phone consult with the surgeon who has evaluated her. Please do note that if Reba does need hip surgery along the road, Coastal will work with her new family to help cover the costs of her surgery with one of our trusted surgeons. Reba has every opportunity to live a full and happy life. She is a joyful little girl. Its very clear that her early life was pretty isolated because almost everything is new to her. She is a seriously fast learner though and smart as a whip because she figured out within hours how much fun it can be to rip around with her foster brothers! She loves to hang out with her human foster family as well. Reba's adoption fee is $500 and her fee will go to help defray the costs of her evaluation and any potential future surgery.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
