Highway has been adopted! 06-15-2013
Highway once had "owners" that he cared for very much. Unfortunately they were moving and could not take Highway with them. He spent the first couple of weeks confused and constantly looking around, thinking they were going to come back. Highway has since settled into rescue life, realizing how much we love and care about him. Highway is your true German Shepherd: loyal, loving and devoted until the very end! Will you be Highway's forever family? Highway is a stunningly beautiful big boy! His golden coat, soft brown eyes and calm demeanor are sure to melt your heart. Highway was one of the favorite dogs of the Girl Scout troop at our last adoption event. He loved to be showered by attention from the kids, adults, and pretty much anyone. Highway is completely housebroken and a gracious house guest. He is alert yet very calm indoors and content to curl up on a dog bed or lay at the front door. He is an athletic boy and he loves long walks and even a nice jog. Highway might do best with a submissive dog as he likes to be the boss, probably no cats. He listens to corrections about his behavior and responds to boundaries and tone of voice. He doesn't really play ball or have a long list of mastered commands under his belt, but he is very smart and seems eager to please. Highway is like a big teddy bear, he will gently paw at you for more attention and will quietly bow his head to get more love.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
