Powder has been adopted! 05-15-2005

Female about 0 old.

Powder is a petite white young lady with excellent manners.

This one year old sweetie is being nursed back to health after an upper respiratory and ear infection. We haven't been able to get great photos of her yet because she sleeps a lot!

Powder is in a foster home with several dogs of all ages and dispositions and always has a tail wag and a kiss for everyone. She willingly sleeps in a crate and, so far, appears to be housebroken. She is a gentle soul.

As Powder's health mends, we will post updates about her personality - she gives every indication of being a great all around girl who loves to spend time with her people. She was rescued from a shelter on her last day.

Update 5/12/05

Our sweet Powder has recently been released from intensive care with a clean bill of health, but not after making a severe dent in our medical fund. Coming out of the shelter, like so many dogs do, she contracted an upper respiratory infection that evolved into a life threatening pneumonia. Rushed to the hospital with a 106.5 degree temperature, she required IVs, around the clock supervision and a lot of medication.

We are thankful to both Arbor Animal Hospital and Advanced Critical Care for the assistance that they gave to her over the past week. Powder is now an active,
happy, inquisitive young girl. She is continuing to recuperate on crate rest in a foster home would love to find a forever home with you.

Powder is just one of many dogs that we have recently rescued with medical challenges - hers just happens to have been the most serious in the past several months. We welcome any donation for her care so that we can continue to save other deserving shepherds like Powder and give them the medical care that they need.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
