Jo has been adopted! 03-08-2012
Jo came to us without a single hair on his body, and yet his tail wagged vigorously as he searched for someone to pet him! We have since found out that Jo suffered for allergies for years and had a yeast infection virtually covering his entire body. He is on a course of meds and with good nutrition and right supplements, we thinks he will be gorgeous and full of hair in no time! Jo gets along fabulously with kids, other dogs and cats! Update 10/27/11 from Jo's foster family: Jo currently lives with 3 children, 2 other dogs (a teeny tiny female and a big male) and 3 cats. He is house-trained and crate-trained and is a very well-behaved boy. He listens to commands quickly and has never been destructive inside or out. He loves loves loves food, but he takes it all gently and has zero food aggression. Jo walks well on a leash and greets everyone he meets with a wagging tail. He also travels well and really seems to enjoy being at the adoption events. Jo would be a very easy addition to a family that can give him love and play. Jo has come so far since he was rescued. His fur is growing back in all over and seems to fill in more and more every day. He is well on his way to having his full beautiful black coat back. Best of all is that he no longer is in such discomfort and is ready to find his forever home!
Jo's pictures don't always show it but Jo has met each new person with a lot of happiness and joy from the moment he was rescued. His tail started wagging when he came to his foster home and hasn't stopped since. Jo has loved every single person or animal he has ever met and is excited to play with anyone willing. With his humans he is a devoted and loyal shepherd who is eager to please and usually stays close by. He is always ready for whatever new exciting event comes his way and often expresses his joy by prancing in excited circles. Jo is an athletic dog who loves to play catch and would probably be a great candidate for frisbee play. He would love to be a part of an active family who will let him play all day! Jo can be a huge goofball as well, he is not a serious shepherd at all.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
