Smokey has been adopted! 06-10-2012
Our first view of Smokey was her shelter picture with her head turned away from the camera, you could feel the fear through the grainy photo. We were thankful to get her into a foster home immediately and it has taken her some time to get comfortable with people. Dogs are a different story - she loves each & every dog in her foster home, is submissive and kissy. She absolutely has to have a home with another dog, specifically one that is a confident, well balanced K9 citizen. Smokey now comes to her foster mom for head scratches and will now take food from her hand although she is definitely a project but what a great reward once she is fully rehabilitated! She has zero aggression, just very shy but every day she improves. We have noticed that she LOVES children, perhaps their size is less intimidating to her. We would definitely place her in a home where there are children 5 and older, toddlers are perhaps a little too much for her. Smokey is very small, housebroken and is trustworthy in the house. She will make a great companion in the right home!
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
