Rory has been adopted! 09-22-2012
We learned about Rory when her "owner" asked us to take her. With zero room in boarding, a volunteer went to visit her and see about working her in when we could. What she found was shocking - a beautiful young dog tied on a cable, people afraid of her, she wasn't eating, she wore a shock collar and at night, they scotch taped her mouth shut so she couldn't bark. We dropped everything and took her immediately. The only positive thing we can say is that at least the people did reach out to rescue. Rory went right into a foster home where there are multiple dogs and fit right in. Rory loves everyone. She is tall, elegant and a little silly. She wants to play badly and has shown an affinity for toys and balls. She is very affectionate and a pretty well adjusted dog given her background. We think she'll be cat friendly, we know she is great with kids. Rory is 17 months old and will make a great addition to any family.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
