Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Forrest has been adopted! 09-27-2012

Female about 0 old.

Forrest is looking for his forever home. He is such a sweet dog! He is approximately 7 years old, neutered male with a classic German Shepherd drive. He gets on well with other dogs! He has a very strong prey drive towards squirrels and rabbits but he hasn't actually caught any....yet! He LOVES car rides and long runs. He is smart and attentive. He was originally an LA County shelter dog in terrible condition. The shelter thought he was likely a "a very geriatric dog with chronic immune conditions and recommended euthanasia". Fate stepped in and he was pulled by CGSR and brought to a great vet for blood work, skin scrappings, and x-rays. Other than some nutritional deficiencies, he was a great candidate for rehab. After a few months of daily bathing, a good diet and excersize to build up his atrophied muscles he was in great shape! He was adopted by a couple in their 80's who after 6 months he quickly became too much dog for them. As his health continued to improve so did his energy level. He was returned to CGSR and is in foster care now.

Forrest absolutely loves companionship and enjoys the company of other dogs, especially at the dog park where everybody is amazed at his endurance! He is good in the house, doesn't chew or tear things up and is housebroken. However, if a stray bit of food is left out I'm sure he wouldn't be opposed to sneaking it when you're not looking! He has no interest thus far in Dog Toys but really loves a fresh, raw beef knuckle bone! He doesn't challenge the fence or dig nor does he bark much. He deserves a forever home of his own!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
