Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Sierra has been adopted! 09-11-2005

Female about 0 old.

Sierra is the sweetest girl ever! She has quite a history with Coastal even though we have only had her for a short period of time. We rescued this gentle girl from a high kill shelter when she was very pregnant. As our volunteer went to move her to a foster home, we learned that she had given birth to six babies! Sierra proved to be a wonderful mother but she had two cases of mastitis (inflammation of a mammary gland) that required admission to emergency hospitals in the middle of the night. Through all of these problems, Sierra insisted on nursing her babies. Finally with her puppies weaned, she came down with one last flare up of mastitis, and went into the hospital again. Sierra is now well thanks to great veterinary care, she is safe and being taken good care of in a foster home. She is very near to completely recovered, healthy and ready for her new family. She is a strong, gentle spirit who has done her best and now deserves the reward of a committed and loving family to call her own. Would that be you?

Sierra is a gentle soul - she has proven that she absolutely loves children and does very well with other dogs. When she recently met a cat, she licked its head and moved on. Families looking for cat and children friendly dogs couldn't do better than Sierra. Sierra also knows her name and knows several commands. Smart, pretty and sweet!

We think she is between 2-3 years old and mixed with some gentle breed, given her angelic nature. Sierra will make a marvelous family dog and most likely thrive with toddlers and small children. Her maternal instinct is so strong and positive - Sierra is truly a find for us - we are very happy that we could save such a deserving girl.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
