Missy has been adopted! 01-01-2006
Meet Missy, another senior female tossed aside when her family moved and made no provision for her other than to dump her in a shelter. Missy has the worst fly strike of any shepherd we've rescued to date. Fly strike is what happens when a dog is left outside 24/7 in a dirty environment and flies land on their ears non stop. We have promised Missy that we will find her a home where she'll have a soft indoor bed and someone to care for her for the rest of her days. Eventually, hair will grow back up over what is left of the tips. Right now Missy is in a home with other German Shepherds. She'd probably do best as an only dog or with a submissive male as a companion. We think that Missy is around 9 years old.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
