Riley has been adopted! 05-21-2006

Riley has an interesting past. He was trained as a military working dog, but the Air Force eventually decided he was too laid back for patrol work. So Riley retired early (with an Honorable Discharge, of course!) to the life of a companion K-9. It’s easy to see how he would have been chosen by the Air Force – while gentle and eager to please, he has an imposing presence and remains protective of his home and people.

About three years old, Riley is a large, hunky sable guy, who loves to give kisses to his foster mom. He’s been neutered and vaccinated. He’s playful outdoors with other dogs, while quiet and well-behaved around the house. He knows military commands, although he could use a brush-up on obedience training. He likes males and females equally, both human and canine. He also likes children - he follows his foster mom’s granddaughter (age 4) around the house as she plays, and sits patiently beside her while she reads him stories. Riley is crate-trained and loves taking siestas close to his people.

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
