Greta has been adopted! 04-29-2007
Greta is very smart and notices everything. She would make an excellent dog to be in trained in agility, obedience or tracking. She allowed her evaluator to hug her, pull her legs, envelope her head and she was non plussed by all of it. Greta is definitely an alpha girl so she'll either be a marvelous only dog or will need to live with a submissive dog. Greta has a tendency to become the "alpha" of her pack very quickly. She needs an experienced handler that can direct her drive and channel it into better suited behaviors. Because Greta is a dominant girl, she can very easily become too protective of her "people". Being protective is a natural tendency of the breed---however being over-protective is not beneficial. Greta needs a savvy shepherd owner who delights in working with a smart, high drive dog.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
