Nova has been adopted! 04-11-2012
We were sad to get Nova returned after being with a family for so long (however, we are their safety net and they always have a spot with Coastal no matter the reason for return). He's about 4 years old now. He is in a foster home with a number of other shepherds and shepherd mixes. He gets along with all of them and tolerates the cranky ones - he really doesn't want a fight. This guy is on red alert quite often - he is aware of EVERYTHING going on around him. He doesn't always show well at adoption events and has come off as not dog friendly. This is as far from the truth as it can be. Once we let Nova "be" and hang in the back of a truck, he settled down nicely, we could see how well trained he was with his adopter - he responds to hand & voice signals and we introduced dog after dog to him in the covered truck bed. This guy is a lover, not a fighter. He yearns for a home with Shepherd experience that can give him a job to do, places to go, people/dogs to see.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
