Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Lola has been adopted! 05-23-2008

Female about 0 old.

Hi! My name is Lola and my sister, Cicely, and I were recently rescued by the wonderful volunteers at Coastal! We are both currently in foster homes learning how to be puppies and enjoy life again! We are approximately 10 months old and do not need to be adopted together. I am a beautiful red and black German Shepherd (mix?) and Cicely is a striking all black German Shepherd (mix?). We are both looking for wonderful, loving and fun homes that will give us a fresh start on our new lives! We can't wait to meet you!

Update from Lola's foster parents 03/08/08:

Lola's first day in her foster home was scary for her. She was nervous and didn't eat, but it only took one day for this little girl to come out of her shell and realize that people are wonderful and other dogs are so much fun to play with!

Lola has the cutest little ears - one up and one down! She is such an eye catcher with her gorgeous red and black markings! Her coat really shined after a much needed bath too. She really enjoys her bones, squeaky toys and pig ears. We're still working on "playing ball" with her.

Lola is currently living with her foster parents, 2 large male German Shepherds and 2 male mixed breed cats. She gets along great with her 2 foster GSD brothers, but we're not so sure about the meow-meows! On our daily walks, she tries to go after the bunnies running around in our local parks. Just as with us on her first day, she is a little shy with strangers but quickly turns into a love bug in minutes, begging for treats and a good belly scratching!

Lola gets along great with other dogs breeds, e.g., labs, golden retrievers, Jack Russell terriers and Pomeranians, as well as other female dogs! Another bonus – she is kid friendly! We tested her around the neighbor kids, ages 5, 8 and 11, and she did very well with them! Lola is also very gentle and calm when receiving treats and has just learned to "sit." She does, however, get very excited and jumps up on us when we come home, but we are working on that! She is, after all, still a puppy! We believe she is pretty much housebroken; we only had one accident on her first night and she's been with us for 2 weeks now. When she goes outside, she heads straight to the grass and does her business. Of course, I'm saving the best for last…she LOVES her crate and SLEEPS THROUGH THE NIGHT WITHOUT MAKING A PEEP! Ahhhh…what a relief!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
