Coastal German Shepherd Rescue

Keno has been adopted! 07-27-2008

Female about 0 old.

Isn't Keno handsome? He's a four-year-old AKC registered male and he loves everyone - kids, dogs, and even cats. Keno came to Coastal because his family abruptly abandoned him in their yard when they lost their home. Poor Keno was left alone, wondering when his family was going to come back. Neighbors took pity on the boy and made sure he had food and water, but no one was able to take him in.

Coastal came to Keno's rescue and he was relinquished to us. Even though he is now safe, Keno is understandably scared and confused by his recent abandonment. How could his family just leave him behind? He needs a home where he'll become the cherished family member he deserves to be.

Update from Keno's foster family:

Keno is a gem! He wants nothing more than to quietly hang by your side - he's clearly not been an inside dog but, like nearly ALL outdoor dogs who are introduced to the inside of a house, he is transitioning quickly! He slept inside a bedroom for the first time and was quite pleased with himself!

Keno meets other dogs openly and is very interested in playing. He is very gentle and quiet. He does get startled by the sound of a hairdryer though! He'll get used to it, we're sure of it!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
