Rolfe has been adopted! 01-24-2010
Rolfe was facing his last day on earth when a Coastal volunteer spotted him while doing a rescue run for another group. Thankfully there was a bit of spare room to squeeze him in - figure it out later and find a spot for him! Rolfe probably hasn't had a lot of exposure to life. When he walks on a leash, he thinks he is supposed to be between your legs! He can get confused about what he is supposed to do, but we've seen that, with a little patience, he is an eager student and will try his best to keep it together and learn. After his first adoption event, he got to go to a cafe that allows dogs on the patio - he met everyone, big & small, with a gentle sniff and welcomed a nice pat on his head. Rolfe gets along well with other dogs - he is not dominant and is learning how to play. He is absolutely smitten with Athena (and she with him) so if you are looking for two dogs, this is a pretty handsome pair. Rolfe is learning to sleep in a crate - we are relatively certain he has not spent much time inside but he definitely embraces the concept and loves staying close to his foster mom - just like every shepherd we've met, if they've been outdoor dogs, once they learn that they can be inside, that is where they choose to be! Rolfe is going to be a wonderful addition to any family.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
