Brea has been adopted! 12-04-2010
We've seen some pretty destroyed ears over the years, but Brea's are certifiably the worst we've ever seen. We wondered aloud how her "family" could sit and watch as her ears were destroyed by flies over the years. When we first met her, we thought she was much older than her paperwork that states 5 years old. Clumps of hair were hanging off of her side and haunches, her coat never having been cared for. After getting her into a foster home, it quickly became apparent that Brea is something special. She LOVES water spray and will come running at the sound of water. And she loves balls and toys! She will carry a gigantic Home Depot bucket proudly around the yard as if it is a prized possession! Brea got to stay inside the first day that her foster mom went to work and she was perfect. She doesn't chew things up, she doesn't have accidents. She is grateful for the smallest kindness. When she is talked to, she just wags her tail "are you talking to ME?" and she soaks up attention but she isn't needy or anxious in any way. We promise you that if you spend a little time with Brea, you will see her inner beauty and that small matter of mangled ears will fade into the background.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
