Dakota is available ( Updated 08-18-2017 )
This beautiful girl loves to have her belly scratched! She has a gorgeous black and tan coat that glistens. Dakota is a quick learner and a star student in her weekly obedience class! She enjoys her daily walks and hikes and is awesome on a leash. She is a very intelligent, strong, and alert three year old female German Shepherd Dog. She learns very quickly and can be a little high strung at times, but is motivated by treats.
Dakota is housebroke, crate trained and is a super car traveler. She can be easily bathed which you can't say for all dogs! She has a prey drive so she should not go to a home where there are cats, small animals, or small dogs. She can be reactive towards other dogs depending on the setting. At her first training class there were 15 other dogs present and she did not react at all. Dakota socializes well with some dogs depending upon their disposition.
Dakota will need an experienced handler who will be committed to training. We recommend a home with no children or children over the age of 16 yoa who have had a large dog before. She will do best in a home where there is an adult there most of the time. Dakota will not do well in a home where people work full time and she is left alone all day.
The minimum adoption donation for adults is $300 and the adoption donation for puppies is $400 - $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
