Zeus has been adopted! 04-29-2007

Female about 0 old.

Zeus is a 3 year old male purebred sable German Shepherd. Zeus was purchased from a well known breeder and has an impressive heritage. He is sired from a National Schutzhund Champion and had been in training to learn tracking and obedience.

Unfortunately, Zeus was recently diagnosed with hip dysplasia in both hips. After meeting with an orthopedic surgeon, it has been recommended that he have the surgery now. Coastal German Shepherd Rescue will pay for Zeus' surgery and is in the process of trying to raising the necessary funds. We will also look to Zeus's breeder to see if they will help him, but we're not hopeful.

Zeus will be able to lead a very normal life once these surgeries are performed. Many large dogs go through these repairs and are able to be active members of their families once the pain is gone!

Zeus is a typical stubborn boy and he will require an experienced, ALPHA owner--he needs a strong alpha in the home to let him know who is the leader of his pack. He is not a choice for a first time shepherd owner but in the right home, he will be a treasure! He knows quite a few commands and enjoys being with people. He's a great watch dog too!

Zeus has been a well loved family dog and deserves to find an equally loving new home. Zeus gets along with other submissive dogs, he does like to be the boss!

The minimum adoption donation for adults is $375 and the adoption donation for puppies is $500. This amount only partially covers the cost of veterinary care, boarding fees, and other miscellaneous expenses involved in the temporary care and adoption of our dogs and is tax deductible when permitted by law. The adoption donation provides that all dogs will be spayed or neutered, receive current vaccinations, and are microchipped. If not, arrangements will be made on an individual basis ( i.e., puppies who will need to be altered by 6 mos old). Special consideration may be given to those willing to adopt older dogs or dogs with physical problems.
